EWI & specifications

External wall insulation: workmanship, defects & evidence.

Independent reviews of visible EWI concerns, system documents and construction details, with objective reporting for contractors, developers and property owners.

Independent EWI defect and workmanship reviews

Where the workmanship or performance of an EWI installation is questioned, we review the visible condition, relevant project records and system requirements. A conflict check comes first, particularly where a supplier or manufacturer has been involved.

  • Cracking, debonding and visible finish defects
  • Window and door reveals, corners and termination details
  • Plinths, penetrations and interfaces with adjoining work
  • EPS and mineral wool system information where relevant
  • Comparison of installation records with supplied specifications
  • Independent second opinion on previous technical reports
  • Visible workmanship and remedial proposals

A visual inspection cannot confirm concealed fixings, fire performance, moisture conditions or every layer of the installed system. We record evidence gaps and identify where an appropriate specialist or destructive investigation is required.

EWI specification and remedial scope reviews

A clear specification establishes the proposed system, preparation, finishes and critical details. We can compare the stated requirements with drawings and relevant manufacturer guidance, helping identify ambiguity before work proceeds.

Reviews may address substrates, compatibility between layers, reinforcement, beads and junctions, weather constraints and installation sequence. Recommendations are specific to the agreed consultancy scope.
